I am a music and culture journalist living in Los Angeles and originally from a small-ish town near Green Bay, Wisconsin.
My work focuses on the global dance/electronic scene, a topic I've covered for 15 years for publications including The Guardian, VICE, RBMA, L.A. Weekly, Flaunt and many others. I also write about travel, nature, sustainability, many types of music beyond dance and myriad facets of the music industry.
I'm currently the director of dance/electronic coverage and senior music correspondent at Billboard. Here, I've written more than a dozen cover stories on artists including The Weeknd, Justice, Justin Bieber, Peggy Gou and Swedish House Mafia. I've reported stories from 13 countries on four continents and have done countless interviews with musicians both legendary and rising. I am sincerely curious about people and places and take satisfaction in finding the right words to relay story and meaning. Beyond writing, I've interviewed many artists on camera in the studio, on red carpets at and at events around the world.
In 2025, I received the first ever FEMME HOUSE award for music journalist of the year. In 2016, I received a Cosmic Sister grant to report on traditional plant medicines in the Peruvian Amazon.
